ABOUT THE MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER OPPORTUNITY:

The Major Gifts Officer will play a critical role in increasing major donor support, and acts as an ambassador for JVS Boston across the community.  Responsibilities include: new donor identification, cultivation and stewardship of existing donors to increase overall retention and giving, and relationship management between donors and others on the board and staff who work with them. The Major Gifts Officer will also be responsible for formalizing and growing the organization’s planned giving program.

The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and will work closely and collaboratively with the CEO, Mid-Level Gifts Officer, board members, and other external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

Donor Management

  • Maintain a personal portfolio of 50+ major donors and prospects (defined as those giving a gift of $10,000+), as well as those donors and prospects that have the capacity to give at this level or higher.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for this portfolio of prospects, developing and implementing a written donor strategy and relationship record (using Salesforce) of all interactions.
  • Communicate with portfolio through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings, as well as verbal and written strategies; ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop solicitation strategies for donors / prospects in support of the organization’s annual fund, planned giving, and growth campaigns; ensure strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns.
  • Support the fundraising efforts of the CDO and CEO in securing new and renewed gifts.
  • With the CDO, create and manage individual giving revenue targets across streams; track and report on progress to goal to CDO, CEO, and CFO including contracts, gifts, and pledges.
  • Work with the Mid-Level Gifts Officers to screen and prepare profiles of current and prospective donors; establish and refine benchmarks for department research processes as needed.

Campaign Strategy

  • Work with the CDO to manage revenue projection and expense budget, as well as pledges and pledge fulfillments.
  • Work with CDO to plan and execute major gifts campaigns.

Events

  • Work with the Communications Manager and Mid-Level Gifts Officer to strategize and help execute cultivation events for major donors and prospects.
  • Be a visible presence at development department special events, such as major donor cultivation events and fundraisers.

Volunteer Liaison

  • Work collaboratively with the Volunteer Manager to ensure that volunteer opportunities meet the needs and expectations of current and prospective donors, while serving the immediate needs of JVS.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for corporate groups interested in connecting with JVS through volunteering.
  • Create feedback and improvement loop with all volunteer groups with a goal of ensuring positive experience, continued engagement, and moves management of volunteers toward making a financial commitment to JVS where and when possible.

Planned Giving

  • Working with the Chief Development Officer, develop a strategy for outreach to and stewardship of planned giving prospects and donors.
  • Develop all print and web-based supporting materials for planned giving program.

Additional Functions

  • Supervise the Mid-Level Gifts Officer
  • Manage Major Gifts Task Force in collaboration with the CDO
  • Manage Resource Development Committee with the Mid-Level Gifts Officer
  • Provide analysis and recommendations based on reporting.
  • Provide detailed prospect reports for solicitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 5-10 years (direct or equivalent) experience managing high level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $10,000 and above.
  • Ability to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program, including annual giving, special events, and special projects/campaigns.
  • Excellent grasp of Salesforce database software.
  • Willingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and professionalism.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Word, and Excel, and a working knowledge of search functions for donor research purposes.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with a culturally diverse group of volunteers, co-workers, and donors.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments with many deadlines and competing requirements.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

This full-time job offers a creative opportunity to engage multiple skills working within a dynamic team structure, with serious potential for growth.

Initially, this position will manage and execute all policy and campaign activities, working with the CEO/Policy Director to develop policy positions and strategize advocacy campaigns. The Fisheries Policy Manager will attend state and federal regulatory meetings to monitor proposed changes and represent the local fleet, analyze fishery policy options, build relationships and credibility within the fishing industry and with elected officials, organize fishermen meetings to discuss fisheries issues, write comment letters on proposed regulatory changes (for the organization and for the fishermen), and organize fishermen and the public to participate in advocacy campaigns.

Within 2-3 years, with mentoring from the CEO/Policy Director, it is expected that this position will take over the public policy roles and responsibilities currently held by the CEO and advance to the role of Policy Director. Additionally, the Policy Director will manage a team of 1-2 team members and provide ongoing strategic leadership regarding fisheries policy and advocacy campaigns.

A successful candidate will be adept at speaking with commercial fishermen at the pier or on their boats, talking with Congress and fisheries managers, and arguing for regulatory change in a wide range of important decision-making venues. They should be comfortable advocating for positive change in often contentious debates.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Collaborate with fishing membership and staff to identify and evaluate opportunities in the regulatory arena to forward our core mission and specific objectives in each fishery.
  • Participate in the planning and decision-making for policy initiatives, develop process management to execute strategy and tactics.
  • Attend and coordinate fishermen participation in meetings of the New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC) as well as its affiliated Oversight Committees, Plan Development Teams, Science and Statistical Committees, and Advisory Panels (when appropriate).
  • Attend and coordinate participation in meetings of the various other state and federal regulatory bodies responsible for fisheries management including Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (MA DMF).
  • Draft, revise and submit official organizational comments on relevant regulatory and legislative actions.
  • Communicate regularly with fishermen in order to build, maintain and improve community relationships; utilize relationships as points of influence for policy campaigns.
  • Coordinate member fishermen’s participation in the regulatory process through written and verbal comments on important regulatory changes.
  • Manage organizational partnerships and coordinate like-minded stakeholders in the policy arena. Represent the organization at Fishing Communities Coalition and Seafood Harvesters of America.
  • Communicate important pending or potential regulatory changes to other members of staff, affected fishermen members, elected state and federal representatives and the public.
  • Participate in the drafting, revising and submission of formal funding proposals for policy programs.
  • Assist the CEO and/or Development Director during meetings with existing and prospective individual donors and philanthropic foundations.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Officer and other staff to identify and evaluate media opportunities to advance policy goals.
  • Participate, whenever appropriate, in the drafting and revising of media pieces to further policy and organizational goals.

Salary and Benefits

  • The starting annual salary range is $65K-$80K. In addition, the organization offers generous health care coverage upon starting and 401K retirement plan (5% match after one year).

Location of Work

Cape Cod, MA.  The Program Manager is expected to be in the office in Chatham, MA at least 1 day a week; flexible telework options available for the remainder of week, with the expectation of regular travel to regional regulatory meetings and to meet with fishermen (in Cape Cod ports and at office).

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

This can be a high-stress position: handles detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks simultaneously, and engages in contentious discussions.  Plans and meets deadlines. Maintains a flexible work schedule to align with fishermen’s schedules, occasionally weekends and evenings. Travels regularly to regional meetings throughout New England and to meet with fishermen across Cape Cod. Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and development. While the position is generally not physically demanding, we expect staff to occasionally go fishing 3-60 miles offshore with industry members, to build trusting relationships and credibility.

The Fab Foundation is hiring a Program Manager immediately. This is a full-time position, and a remote role that will require some travel as needed within the U.S. and occasionally abroad.

Position Summary:

Fab Foundation is seeking a Program Manager to manage and implement educational outreach projects with corporate and private funding partners.  The Program Manager will serve as a liaison between Fab Foundation, relevant project funders, as well as local organizations that host the related educational outreach activities. The Program Manager will primarily be responsible for US-based projects but may be called upon from time to time to manage international projects.  In this role they will develop key stakeholder relationships for the various partnerships formed for the relevant outreach projects and manage the overall day to day operation of the program(s). They will develop schedules, coordinate resources, and ensure that daily operations of the program align with the overall goals and objectives of the project. The Program Manager will work closely with project personnel, such as instructors, lab managers, teachers and others to implement outreach projects.

The Program Manager will also assist in identifying innovative outreach opportunities to engage local partnering communities as well as new partners in our work.  To amplify outreach efforts, the Program Manager will support in communications efforts such as social media to promote our educational outreach activities.

Assessment and data collection will be a continuing part of our work in order to understand and to report to funders our impact. To that end, in collaboration with other members of the Fab Foundation staff, the Program Manager will be responsible for monitoring program metrics, and tracking, synthesizing and reporting data related to the project, and work in partnership with Fab Foundation leadership on meeting program grant requirements.

The first outreach project to be undertaken by the Program Manager will be to implement two K-12 STEM outreach fab labs and related programming in partnering Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the US.

This is grant-funded full-time position at the Fab Foundation. Employment beyond 24 months is contingent upon program funding. The Program Manager will report to the President and the Vice President of Operations at the Fab Foundation.

As a member of the Career Services management team, will be responsible for the management, compliance, and operating functions at the MassHire Career Center to ensure that high quality, workforce development and labor exchange services are provided to Boston employers and job seekers.

Kevin brings extensive workforce development and leadership experience to the role with JVS. Most recently, Kevin was the Manager of Workforce Development Programs at Community Work Services, where he was for their workforce development programs. Prior, Kevin was the Executive Director of the Career Collaborative. Earlier in his career, Kevin was in senior roles with the cities of Quincy and Lawrence, also focused on career readiness and workforce development.

Kevin earned his bachelor’s degree from Salem State College. He is a published author and professional musician.

POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Career Services management team, the Sr. Director of Career Center Operations is responsible for the management, compliance, and operating functions at the MassHire Career Center to ensure that high quality, workforce development and labor exchange services are provided to Boston employers and job seekers. The Director ensures that all performance goals and objectives as outlined by the Career Center Charter and State and Federal regulations are achieved. As a member of Career Services management team, the Director develops innovative plans and strategies to ensure the agency’s continued success in fulfilling its mission and achieving short- and long-term goals and objectives. Working closely with the Vice President of Career Services, the Sr. Director of Career Center Operations will provide direct supervision to JVS MassHire staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Promotes Agency
• Develop and maintain strategic alliances and collaborations with community-based organizations, training providers, supportive service referral organizations, and the employer and job seeker communities in order to sustain and support the Career Center vision
• Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS MassHire both internally and externally.
• Actively serve on state-wide and Boston-based Career Center operating committees in order to coordinate among career centers, to plan for cross-system service improvement, and to maintain cross-system service standards.

Accountability and Results Focused
• Manage day-to-day career center operations
• Read, summarize and ensure compliance with all federal and state One Stop Career Center regulations
• Manage all aspects of funder monitoring including planning, report writing and arranging and facilitating visits and necessary follow up.
• Manage state database, MOSES, reporting
• Assist in the overall process and service delivery improvements to the Career Center, working from a customer centered approach.
• Demonstrate ownership of projects and assignments and respond to organizational requests by deadlines

Coaches and Develops Staff
• Hire, train, and supervise staff (functional or directly as assigned)
• Develop high performance standards and delegates responsibility
• Effectively communicate priorities and decisions to program staff.
• Ensure staff are accountable for meeting programmatic and contract requirements.
• Ensure program staff members work collaboratively with all JVS programs and services.
• Communicate to staff via regular meetings, developing performance expectations and performing annual performance evaluations.
• Monitor the achievement of performance expectations, in accordance with MassHire work plan and take remedial action where necessary.

Planning and Organizing
• Establish sound and systematic course of action to assure results

• Know and work comfortably with both MassHire and JVS systems, processes, and procedures
• Maintain annual reporting plan, write and ensures data quality for reporting making systems or data collection changes as needed

MINIMUM QUALFIICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• 8 years of related work experience in workforce development, compliance, or employment services
• 3 years of program management and supervisory experience
• Proven financial management skills

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) has grown in the last several years. Since 2015, the organization has seen an increase in the number of employees from fewer than 20 to more than 40. The organization’s human resources management function has historically been combined with finance and administration.  With the organization’s substantial growth, VLP has determined a need for a dedicated human resources professional.

The Director of People and Culture will manage all aspects of the organization’s human resources function, including hiring practices, recruitment, employee retention, organizational and professional development strategies. The Director will partner strategically with VLP’s leadership team to shape employee relations strategies and practices and ensure appropriate employee development and opportunities for advancement. The Director will assess organizational needs, and champion, promote, and continue to guide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) processes and initiatives.

Candidate must be able to commute into the office when we return to in-person operations and must have access to a secure internet connection.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Serve as the DEI subject matter expert on internal and external best practices and lead the culture change
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evolution of DEI initiatives across the organization
  • Manage organizational hiring practices, recruitment, and employee retention
  • Manage training and development, compensation, and employee benefits programs
  • Oversee performance evaluations to ensure merit-based, equitable compensation
  • Serve on the DEI Committee as the liaison between staff and DEI efforts
  • Develop and deliver content for diversity and inclusion education programs that will drive culture change
  • Develop metrics and reporting mechanisms to effectively measure, track and report progress to goals
  • Plan, organize, and implement various diversity outreach efforts and strategies
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding employees, including reference checks, new employee orientation, exit interviews, and ensuring appropriate coordination of continuing benefits
  • Manage hiring committees to ensure compliance with approved hiring process and attention to DEI
  • Manage communication of DEI content for VLP materials (website, recruiting materials, etc.)
  • Develop and foster positive relationships across the organization
  • Serve as reporting person for staff concerns, specifically related to DEI, hiring, or other related issues
  • Develop restorative conflict resolution process and other organizational processes, as determined necessary
  • Manage staff professional development programand make budgetary recommendations to the Executive Director for employee investment
  • Other program duties as needed or assigned by the Executive Director

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8-10+ years of leadership and management experience in HR, DEI, consulting, or related functions, with a demonstrated success designing and delivering DEI programs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resources management
  • Extensive understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices
  • Experience with HR compliance and employment laws
  • Experience designing and/or managing internal grievance programs
  • Experience with progressive discipline and termination of employees

PREFERRED EDUCATION/TRAINING/KNOWLEDGE:

  • SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management) Certification
  • Certification in Mediation
  • Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to state bar
